British - This is a model of a Fleet Air Arm plane that flew against the German invasion of Norway in 1940. Skuas were designed to perform the dual role of carrier fighter and dive bomber. They were the Royal Navy's first modern dive bomber, and did well in that role. However, they were used more often as carrier fighters. And since their performance in that role was inferior to the Fairey Fulmar, they were replaced by Fulmars. |
