German Hs 123A - This is a model of a biplane dive bomber that participated in the 1940 invasion of France. The Hs 123 first saw action in 1937 in Spain with the Legion Condor, the German air contingent Hitler sent to Spain to fight for the Nationalists. That same year, the Luftwaffe began replacing the Hs 123 with the Junkers Ju 87 Stuka. The Hs 123, however, proved to be so useful that it remained in service long after its production ended in 1937, continuing to see action against the Soviets on the Eastern front until 1944. |
