French CR 714- This is a model of a French-built fighter that flew against the German invasion of France in 1940. The CR 714's performance was average compared to other French-built fighters but it was easy to build and a lot of wood was used in its construction, thereby saving metal for other military uses. The few CR 714s that saw combat were flown by the exiled Polish pilots of France's Groupe de Chasse (GC) 1/145, which operated for less than two weeks but downed seven confirmed German planes and two probables. Less than 100 CR 714s were built, and the plane's production was discontinued after the surrender.
