Japanese A5M4 Model 24 Type 96 Navy Carrier Fighter - This is a model of a plane like those that flew from the carrier Ryujo to attack the Philippines in December 1941. The Allied codename for these planes was "Claude." It was the carrier fighter the Allies believed they'd be facing if they had to fight the Japanese navy. By 1941, however, the A6M Zero had replaced it as the Imperial Japanese Navy's primary fighter. The Claude was the world's first monoplane carrier fighter. It saw combat for the first time in 1937 against the Chinese.
