Italian Ba.65 - This is a model of a heavy fighter based in North Africa that flew against the 1940 British offensive. They performed poorly and all were lost by the first part of 1941. The Ba.65 first saw action in Spain in 1937 with the Aviazione Legionaria, the Italian air contingent sent by Mussolini to support the Nationalists in the Spanish Civil War. Often called the worst combat plane of WWII, production of the Ba.65 ended in 1939. |

Iraqi Ba.65bis - This is a model of a heavy fighter plane that fought the British in May 1941. The Ba.65bis was a two-seat version, with a gunner position behind the pilot. The Iraqis bought 25 of them from Italy in 1938. All of the Iraqi B.65s still operating in 1941 were destroyed during the conflict with the British. |
