British Mk.IV - This is a model of a medium bomber that flew against the Italians in Africa and the Mediterranean in 1940. The Mk.IV was Britain's primary medium day bomber during the early phase of WWII. The British sold some Mk.IVs to the Greeks before the war and to the Finns during their Winter War with the Soviets in 1939. The Finns used them against the Soviets again beginning in 1941, and built some Mk.IVs of their own in 1944. Mk.IVs built in Canada were called Bolingbrokes, and were used locally by the Royal Canadian Air Force. |

British Mk.IVF - This is a model of a heavy fighter that flew against the German invasion of Norway in 1940. The F denoted the fighter variant of the Mk.IV, with a four machine gun pack installed in the bomb-bay. The Blenheim Mk.IV was not derived from the Blenheim Mk.I, but was a new design in response to the need for a medium reconnaissance bomber. The Mk.IV was subsequently used as the basis for two more planes, the Bristol Beaufort torpedo bomber, and the Blenheim Mk.V, also called the Bisley. The Mk.V had a "ducks bill" nose and was supposed to be an improved medium bomber with ground support capabilities. It entered service in 1942, but its performance wasn't much better than the Mk.IV. |

Free French Mk.IV - This is a model of a medium bomber provided by the British in 1941 for use against the Italians and Germans in Africa. Blenheim Mk.IVs were relatively slow and lightly armed and suffered heavy losses from enemy fighters unless they were escorted by defending fighter planes. In order to improve their defensive capabilities, the British began fitting them with rear-firing machine gun turrets under their noses. Most Blenheims were removed from combat duties by the end of 1943, having been replaced by Douglas Bostons and de Havilland Mosquitoes. |
