British Mk.II - This is a model of a land-based torpedo bomber that flew from England against German shipping in the English Channel and the North Sea in late 1941 or early 1942. The Beaufort was a redesign of the Bristol Blenheim Mk.IV medium bomber. The Beaufort was the primary British land-based torpedo bomber from 1940 to 1943, when it was replaced by its offspring, the Bristol Beaufighter. The Australians built their own Beauforts under a license and made much use of them against Japanese shipping in the South Pacific. |
